Université de Rennes 1 organizes its first « Summer School EIT Digital » dedicated to digital cities

This year, Université de Rennes 1, host one of the ten Summer School EIT Digital organized also in Munich, Eindhoven, Lisbon, Trento, Tallin, Stockholm and Budapest.

EIT Digital Master School

As part of an international strategy, Université de Rennes 1 has since 2012 developed a partnership with the European program EIT Digital Master School.

The EIT Digital Master School aims to train professionals with cutting-edge technical excellence in the key areas of digital technology, combined with strong expertise in innovation and entrepreneurship. The Master School works in collaboration with 17 leading technical universities, including the University of Rennes 1, in nine countries with research and industry partners from all over Europe. The Master School is a two-year masters programme, entirely taught in English which must be followed in two different partner universities.

Currently, Université de Rennes 1 hosts around fifteen students in the Master Cloud Computing and is preparing to welcome 15 new others in the Master Cyber Security that will open in September 2018.

Immersion into innovation and entrepreneurship

During Summer School EIT Digital, held from 1 to 14th of July, Université de Rennes 1 will welcome around 50 Master’s and PHD’s international students from different European universities.
The purpose of this event is to learn more about global digital transformation and business models in a digital world. The participants will focus on predictive analytics, big data, mobility and open platforms for an efficient and participative city.

During 2 weeks, the participants will work in teams and apply “learning by doing” to develop a mindset and skills for innovation and entrepreneurship. They will learn and network with other students and professional entrepreneurs from the business and innovation community. More than fifteen local and european high-level speakers and experts will be present during these days and strategic coaching will be provided by professional coaches.

This Summer School in Rennes will be the opportunity for students to discover renowned regional heritage in both Brittany and Normandy and to discover Rennes and Breton culture.

The Co-location Center of the EIT Digital in Rennes

The Co-location Center of the EIT Digital in Rennes has the mission to develop a space where education, research and business may interact and trigger innovative ventures.  Surrounded by numerous stakeholders, the Co-location Center is a unique tool for fostering the local and European synergies needed for an education aimed at value creation and addressing societal challenges through new technologies.

The CLC of the EIT Digital in Rennes hosts two programs within the Master school, the Doctoral school, a student pre-incubator and serval innovation and business activities. The CLC implements more than 400 hours of training in Innovation and Entrepreneurship, participates in several pedagogical projects on blended education at the European level and closely supports more than 15 innovative projects each year. The CLC users and contributors range from master students to researchers, PhD candidates, entrepreneurs, experts, industrial, consultants, teachers and coaches.
