With a strong background in German and the desire to maintain links with the language and culture without necessarily going on to study languages, she enrolled on a bachelor's degree at the French-German Institute for Technology, Economy and Science (ISFATES), run by the Université de Lorraine and the University of Applied Sciences in Sarrebrück.
After graduating, she decided to do a double master's degree in French-German business management run by Université de Rennes 1 and Universität Augsburg. She carried out the first year of her master's in Germany and Amélie and fellow French students were treated in the same way as fellow German students, an advantage according to Amélie as they progressed quickly. Students on the programme are well prepared as they have often had an international academic experience such as an Erasmus exchange or have a French-German bachelor's degree.
Amélie has moved a lot in the last five years and she feels that doing the double degree has made her more adaptable and more mobile. She also improved her English because a lot of courses were taught in the language. She completed her master's degree at Université de Rennes 1 in the Faculty of Economics.
For a career as a logistic's manager in an export-focused company, this experience has proved particularly useful!
What is a double degree?
Double degrees, available at bachelor's or master's level, are done in the framework of an agreement between partner universities in different countries. Students carry out two degrees in the same time period as a single degree, follow the same curriculum and are treated in the same manner as their fellow students in the partner institution.
Doing a double degree is demanding, but on a CV, it shows that a candidate is internationally mobile, adaptable and is an asset when looking for a job, both nationally and internationally.
