Signing of a double degree agreement in Geoengineering and Environment between Université de Rennes 1 and INRS, Quebec

Université de Rennes 1 and INRS (Institut national de la recherche scientifique), Quebec, signed a double degree on 26th April 2017 at the International Affairs Department of Université de Rennes 1. The agreement concerns the Master's in Water Sciences at Université de Rennes 1 and the Master's in Earth Sciences at INRS .

The aim of this agreement, signed by Professor David Alis, President of Université de Rennes 1 and Mr. Claude Arbour, Interim Rector of INRS, was to establish the conditions of the double degree qualification between training in Geoengineering and Environment offered by the two institutions.

This programme will be available from autumn 2017 at Université de Rennes 1 in the framework of the new Master's degree in Water Sciences. Students enrolled in one of the two institutions will carry out their first year in their home institution and their second year in the partner institution.

Professor Gilles Pinay, Director of the Rennes Earth Sciences and Astronomy Observatory (OSUR) and Professor Yves Bégin, Vice Rector of Research and Academic Affairs and Scientific Director at INRS were also present. Mr. Claude Arbour was delighted by the fact that students would be gaining skills and Professor David Alis underlined Université de Rennes 1's desire to position itself in the field of the environment alongside INRS in the years to come.

This agreement further strengthens the cooperation between the academic centres of Rennes and Quebec.
