World map of French transnational education in 2015 (from France Strategie report)

How far have French higher education institutions gone in extending their influence at an international level? A recent report by Bernard Ramanantsoa, Dean Emeritus of the HEC Paris business school, in collaboration with France Stratégie, looks into the question and provides information that has so far been lacking in a domain which has gained importance in the last two decades: the internationalisation of higher education in France.

The mobility of students and lecturers is increasing, institutions work with international partners to set up programmes, open up campuses or offer distance learning to students outside France. This reports relates action taken in higher education in France which is aimed at bringing an international dimension to institutions, but also highlights the urgent need for a new strategy.

Professor Pierre van de Weghe, Vice President of international relations at Université de Rennes 1 was amongst the contributors called on to provide their knowledge and experience.
