A delegation with Professor Pierre van de Weghe, Vice President in charge of international relations and Dr. Annie Soriot, Director of the International Affairs Department from Université de Rennes 1 met His Excellency Ambassador of France in Georgia Pascal Meunier and Jean-Yves Lavoir, Director of Institut Français in Georgia on 16 and 17 October 2016 to explore the different possibilities for cooperation between the Université de Rennes 1 and Georgian universities. This cooperation could include exchange programmes through the Erasmus system, research programmes and exchanges for staff or teachers allowing them to share best practice and experience.

This was also the opportunity to meet representatives of two Georgian universities. Professor and Dean Giorgi (Giga) Kvartskhva and Professor Mariam Khomasuridze from the Georgian Technical University (GTU) and representatives from the Agricultural University of Georgia including Ms. Natia Samushia, Vice Rector.

Université de Rennes 1 is building new collaborations in higher education with Georgia, which has in fact already begun with the arrival of a Georgian student in Rennes.
